There are contests for the best baguette in Paris every year. Its amazing how with 4 ingredients you can make something that tastes so different. Montmartre is known for having great boulangeries. Some say its because of the water. My favorite boulangerie I found while walking to the Bastille market. Oddly it had no lines this cold winter day. Every time I go back I wait in a long line. It goes fast and its worth it. I highly recommend the torsadee baguette. If you get it warm its even better!

I was very lucky to have a visit from my friend Jane from La Cusine Paris in Chicago this weekend. Jane and I became friends in Paris and it was so great to catch up with her in person. She brought me a surprise of Laduree macarons. Each flavor was one of my favorites (ok I have a few…) I was so excited to photograph and then eat everyone of them. The question is. which one would you eat first? raspberry, salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, coffee. They disappeared so quickly but I still have the pretty box
One of my favorite places in all of Paris is Place des Vosges. I can’t explain it but I am drawn to this place. It is calm and beautiful in the early morning with the birds tweeting and the fountains flowing. In the snow it was one of the first places I ran to just to see this place covered in white. It is also a beautiful place to see at nightfall. If I had my wish it would be an apartment overlooking the square. One day… Until then here are some photos of Place des Vosges at nightfall. Maybe you will feel the same way?
