Summer Weekends at Home

0

Its getting close to the end of peony season so instead of one bunch I purchased two this week. I have to get my fill while I can. They are next to my bed and I wake up to a sea of pink and a heavenly smell.

My favorite dyptique candle along with peonies makes for the best smell.

The warm weather here in Chicago has me in the mood for iced tea. I have a collection of Kusmi tea from Paris that I am digging into now. The beauty detox is my favorite.

Now that Wells Street is finished I feel like I can breathe for a minute. I worked straight through LA to now and I am feeling exhausted. Its been extra coffees to get me through the week. But in exciting news my passion project will be launching very soon and I hired an intern!! She is adorable, sweet, organized and a francophile so she fits right in! I can’t wait to share my new project with you. Zoey will be helping launch the new project. For those of you who stopped by wells street and braved the heat thank you so much!!

Rose All Day

Chicago finally feels like Summer. It has taken a while. It was just two weeks ago in the middle of May where I needed gloves on the weekend. I caught up with friends over Rose and cheese last night. While I am getting ready for LA I picked up these sunglasses from JCrew over the weekend. So excited to finally wear them! These strawberries paired perfectly with our Rose and cheese. I can’t wait for more nights like these.

I am in love with these Anthropologie bowls and use them every chance I get. They come in every color and I collect them. Does anyone else have these? Plus they are super inexpensive.

At home in Chicago

I have been home for a few weeks from Paris and I am working on something pretty exciting. I can’t wait to share because I know you all will LOVE it and as a tease it has to do with Paris 😉 As I work on this project I will be traveling stateside this month. A visit home to see Emma, my Dad and sister and I am headed to LA in a few weeks. I have only been once and I didn’t see much of the city so I am looking for tips and favorite places!

After traveling for three years I am happy to have a home here in Chicago. For so long I felt stuck creatively because I was always jumping from one place to the next. Now I feel more creative than I have in a long time. Its a bit overwhelming because I have so many ideas and they are flooding in all at once. Does anyone else ever have this feeling? Here is a quick shot from my home. I actually have furniture I am just waiting to fill my art with walls which its always the hardest problem choosing which photos will go up.

I have a bit of a candle problem lately as I keep collecting them. Here is one of my favorites that sits by my bed by Diptyque  I love the Baies one for Summer.

Thank you West Elm Chicago

Thank you all for joining me this past weekend at the Lincoln Park West Elm Chicago popup event. The event took place with 9 total etsy artists. It was great to meet all of the talented etsians in the store and see their product in person. The store staff was welcoming, fun, and energetic which helped make the event a success. I really enjoyed meeting new customers and seeing familiar faces. Thank you for taking time out of your busy Saturday’s to stop by and say hello and make a purchase. Have a fabulous Monday! xo

Thank you Wells Street

Wells Street in Chicago is my favorite festival for so many reasons. Its the kickoff to summer in Chicago and filled with so much life. Yes, there is also a lot of drinking and music. Luckily I am at the other end of the fest so I don’t get as much of the craziness. In years past I never plan for Wells Street as I should. I have run out of product, bags, and with the amount of traffic (people and customers) it just gets crazy!

This past week I planned day and night drawing out booth plans. Strategizing. I had meetings with friends to discuss booth ideas. I spent days lining up the order for the walls and decided to do velcro as a way to attach my wood blocks to the walls. Great idea (check) Well not all good ideas work out… With the heat the industrial strength velcro did not work and blocks were falling left and right quickly! Thank goodness for a good friend that stepped in to help!

Of course I did not feel prepared after all the planning. Fathers Day was Sunday and it felt like everyone decided to come Saturday instead. I hadn’t even finished unpacking my booth and was overwhelmed with customers. My iPad fell first thing breaking my square swipe. By days end I ran out of bags and by day two there were no business cards left. It was so great to see so many familiar faces stop by the booth. Past customers and friends from all over stopped by the booth. Friends from college who I haven’t seen in 10 years surprised me! I am so grateful and thrilled for such an amazing weekend. No matter what has happened in past years I can never set expectations and just go in with an open mind.

Here are a few pictures of the booth I snapped at the beginning and then as the crowds came:

This last picture was the line to look at the print box. I am going to have to come up with a better solution or two boxes so this doesn’t happen again 🙂

There were so many amazing customers over the two days I wish I could write about them all. But my two favorite were. 1. A couple has been buying my art since the year they were engaged. Each year they come back on their anniversary and buy a piece of art to add to their house. Love them! 2. A customer walked into the booth and opened his backpack to pull out a book. Inside the book was a stack of small bills he had saved his money so he could buy a small piece of my art.

From the bottom of my heart thank you all so much for your love and support and a wonderful weekend! There are three more shows left for the summer so if you are in the Chicago area stop by and say hello!
