Central Park in the Snow

6

In the past couple of years I have been visiting NYC in the Summer. They have turned out to be some of the hottest days of the whole year. This time around I decided to visit NYC in the Winter hoping for snow. More specifically I was really hoping to see Central Park in the snow. Part of my trip didn’t turn out as planned but I was thrilled to see snow in Central Park. Monday my flight ended up being cancelled due to freezing rain, hail and snow. The park wasn’t a foot deep in snow but it was still beautiful. This time around NYC experienced some of the coldest days I have felt in a long time. Photographing is not so easy with gloves on my hands hurt for a while even after returning to warmth. I walked from the Upper East Side through the Park to the Plaza. I think it was worth the pain in my hands to be able to capture this beauty. What do you think?

Ways to beat the heat in NYC

4

My last visit to NYC the temperature was around 100 degrees. It was terrible! I visited with my Dad and we had to pop into to different spots just to keep cool. This year the temperature was cooler but it was still summer weather. I decided to pull together some of my favorite picks for places to beat the heat in NYC.

10. Yoga in Bryant Park. I am a huge fan of yoga as I do it regularly and was so excited to see mats being set up in Bryant Park. Classes are available Tuesday and Thursday check the schedule for times

This adorable ice cream shop just opened up in Soho. They have multiple types of vanilla and chocolate amongst many other flavors. More info here

7. If you have a sweet tooth but don’t want ice cream you can find any of your favorite past childhood candys at Economy Candy. Get ready to bring back a lot of memories from your childhood. This place is so much fun and stays cool!

7. I loved exploring the West Village with a friend of mine popping into all the adorable shops. This beautiful Perfume shop has every candle and perfume you could imagine. Aedes de Venustas New York I felt like I was back in Paris.

6. Buvettes – staying in the West Village if you start to get hungry you can stop by Buvettes. I am not sure how I missed this place all this time. I felt like I was back in Paris the minute I stepped inside. I cooled off with a salmon tartine and a tall glass of fresh lemonade. Even the straws are cute! This place stays open until 2am so there is no reason not to try it. I can’t wait to go back again!

5. Hamiltons – This adorable old soda/ice cream shop just opened up last week. I stumbled upon it while walking through the West Village. I have been begging for someone to open one of these up and finally someone did and they did it well! Ice cream sodas, banana splits and more are on this menu.

4. If you have had your fill on food its time to explore a little outside. If you are up for it you can head over to Brooklyn Bridge Park in Dumbo. After all the walking I did this past weekend I had to throw in some extra yoga.

3. Right next to Brooklyn Bridge Park you can hop on Jane’s carousel for a beautiful view of the water and city. At only $2 a ride what’s not to love?

2. Central Park Boats – My lovely friend Taylor had me walking around a different part of central Park I had not seen before. We saw these super cute boats you could rent and send them around the water. It made me feel like I was back in Paris at Luxembourg Gardens.

1. Central Park Stroll – if you aren’t into the boats you can always just stroll through Central Park and people watch. We had so much fun doing it last week!

NYC on Foot

6

The best way to see NYC is on foot. There is so much to explore. These are three of my favorite places in NYC : the flat iron building, the chrysler building, and central park. This set of 3 is great for an office or any part of your home.

Bethesda Arches in Central Park

0

I set out in Central Park this weekend on my own for an early morning walk. It was filled with people and their dogs playing catch in the grass. I love the Bethesda Arches and the beautiful music that is played underneath. I have met several people over the past couple weeks at shows that have shared their fondness of this special place in central park. My favorite part is that the ceiling had been recently restored. I had to go back to make sure to look up and see the details in the ceiling. This picture is a look at the architecture and intricate ceiling.

I heart NYC

3

A little tribute to NYC. One of my favorite places in NYC is Central Park. I find it so relaxing and beautiful. The best thing I can compare it to is my walks on the Seine. I have a few favorite photographs from Central Park. Most recently a furniture store that I am working with, Nest Furniture here in Chicago purchased this photograph for their showroom. I love how one piece can really complete the room.
