Chicago El Stairs

el stairs canvas

A few years back I shot this photograph on a cold January day of the Chicago el stairs. I don’t take a lot of Chicago pictures but this one is one of my best sellers at all of my Chicago art shows. I lived by the lake for 8 years and until recently didn’t take the el to get around the city. The el is located a little west from the lake and wasn’t convenient. Now I live between two stops on the brown line and I am using the el to go everywhere! Tomorrow when I head back to the merchandise mart I will have a quick commute on the brown line. For those of you in the Chicago area that will be attending the OOAK Show stop by booth 2068. The first 5 people to say hello to me will get a holiday gift from RL Photography. Happy Holidays!

Hollywood Glam in Chicago

0

I have lived in Chicago for 8 years and have never really stepped foot inside the famous Drake Hotel. I did a walking tour with a friend this weekend that just moved to the city so I put it on the list. I wish I would have stopped in sooner. For some people it may not be the sleek modern look of new hotels but for me its just my style. I loved the Hollywood Glam Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the bar right off the main lobby looked just as beautiful!

Thank you for those of you who were guessing on yesterdays challenge! The answer was the Lyric Opera House. There will be more upcoming challenges I love the detail that is put into the opera house. Here is a look at the outside columns that are found at the entrance.

Best Seat in The House

Do you ever go to a movie or play and you find yourself moving around because the person in front of you is taller?! I call this photograph “the best seat in the house” There is no one to block your view just you and the show. I am sitting somewhere famous in Chicago. The first person to guess will get an 8×10 print of this photograph

Stolen artwork… Am I the next Picasso?

3

This weekend I had a tent with my artwork set up at the Taste of Lincoln. 40 selected artists set up their tents full of items on Lill Street just off of Lincoln. At night artists close up their tent and security walks the streets to make sure nothing is taken. This time things were different. As I approached my booth Sunday morning I noticed huge holes on my wall of missing product. I checked to see if they fell and no, they were MISSING!! These were two sets of photographs on canvas that were from Nice, France and Lisbon, Portugal. A value of $920. I have to take it as a compliment I guess that someone loved my work enough to steal it. Which is why I think I might be the next Picasso. If you own some of my work you are lucky! šŸ˜‰

The missing artwork

*if you happen to find these at your local pawn shop or your neighbors wall please let me know*

I will be at Wilmette Farmers Market this weekend if you want to stop by and say hi! Next Sunday I leave for Paris but I will leave that information for another post.
