Last night I took a stroll through the tulleries with friends in Paris. The Paris sky put on a perfect show for all of us with the eiffel tower as the star. Don’t you agree?

It certainly doesn’t feel like May with the weather we are having in Chicago. Spring should be popping in the next week or so. I am looking forward to walking my neighborhood and having the streets lined with blossoms. Here is Paris during the magic hour walking towards the eiffel tower.

Paris during the magic hour

I loved this article about Paris Solo. My first trip solo was to Paris and I am grateful I had the courage to go four years ago.

Happy Birthday Madame Eiffel

Today 125 years ago the eiffel tower was completed in Paris, France. I don’t feel like a trip to Paris is real until I see her. The eiffel tower sparkles every hour on the hour after dark. You can see the eiffel tower best at night from the Trocadero which is just across the street from the eiffel tower. There is a metro stop right there so you really can’t miss it!

The One of A Kind Show in Chicago is just about two weeks away. I have been editing and preparing pieces for the show since I have been back in Paris. I have been putting collections together for the walls this year and one of my favorites is Pretty in Pink. I hope you like it! If you are in the Chicago area please stop by booth 2068. More details on the show in a later post.

Red Balloons in Paris – Part 1

5

The story behind the red balloons. My first trip to Paris this year I had the idea of putting red balloons around the city of Paris and photographing them. I was busy with visitors towards the last month of my visit and never got to do it. As I prepared for my last minute visit this October it was on my list!

Finding red balloons is not easy or inexpensive in Paris. I brought my own balloons from the States but needed to find helium. After a long walk through the 13th arrondisement with my friend Olivier I started to walk home towards the Seine. On my walk I stumbled upon a toy shop with balloons! My thought was now or never… so I purchased a few balloons. I was beaming with my red balloons walking through the city of Paris. Just a few feet out of the shop and one balloon goes POP! Then my decision to ride the metro or bus home was out the window. I was going to walk… all 7 kilometers.

On my way home the sun started to set. I thought first stop would be one of my favorite Paris bridges. Pont des Arts…

red balloons parisI woke up early to meet another photographer friend at the Trocadero at sunrise. Here we began a very full day of running around with red balloons.

After asking them to leave they attacked the balloons with their pens and popped one before running off!

There were a few places around the city that we didn’t get to so we decided to do it again! I will save those images for another post.

Pourquoi Paris?

2

I made the very last minute decision to hop on a plane to Paris this Autumn. I am scrambling to tie up loose ends, find Fall clothes, and pick up last minute things to pack for my journey.  Thankfully I always carry my passport 😉 As I speak to family and friends before I leave some of them are asking the question ” Why Paris?” “Again?”Paris is a magical city. It inspires me constantly and keeps surprising me everyday. So the real question is “Why Not?” I feel I will keep returning to Paris until it looses its charm… (I hope this never happens)So the challenge of “Why Paris?” remains for my friends, family and strangers. I always love a good challenge which is why I decided to dedicate this next trip to giving my readers a virtual trip to Paris. In the past I have given you pictures from my days. Some that make sense, some may not. October will be filled with a virtual trip to Paris and in the end I hope you fall in love with Paris just a little bit more.So on that note. Pack your bags, grab your passport… this weekend we arrive in Paris!
