After returning from an adventure on the island of Burano I was greeted by the sun setting amongst the city of Venice creating a golden glow with the shadows of the Venetian architecture.

Luxembourg Gardens has a beautiful garden in the summer filled with colorful flowers. But there are more than beautiful flowers to be admired. I love people watching and this is the place! There are people playing tennis, kids playing tag, older couples reading newspapers, and my favorite the men playing chess. So take a moment to admire the chess players of Paris.

Paris offers different perspectives from all of the different areas around the city. From the top of Sacre Coeur to the Seine River. I love walking along the Seine and people watching. Walking along the Seine is very different in the Winter because there aren’t many leaves on the trees so you see the city in a different light. I loved walking along and coming across the Notre Dame Cathedral perfectly framed by the trees.
The Red Umbrella or in French Le Parapluie Rouge. One of my favorite images from my most recent trip to Paris was an early morning in the Marais. It was raining and the cobblestone streets were wet and shiny from the rain and when I looked up the streets were empty except for a couple walking in front of me with an umbrella. The umbrella was rainbow and really popped in the photograph because everything else was very soft. One of my favorite customers asked if the umbrella could be red. With a little help from a friend, the umbrella turned red! Voila!!
The best way to see Venice is to take a vaporetto along the Grand Canal. You can get a day pass or a weekend pass depending how long you will be visiting. I recommend sitting in the back (even if its cold) and watching the canal fly by as you go from stop to stop. If you have time I would ride on one side and then next time sit on the opposite side. There is just too much to see to take it all in on one ride.
Walking through the streets of Paris there are all sorts of different doorways. Large ones and small ones but they all have such unique characteristics. The fun part of photographing Paris is what I see as an amazing piece of architecture is just part of the daily life in Paris. As I am photographing this fun pink door, the door opens and people walk out. Before I know it different people are walking in. The daily life in Paris is filled with beauty.
I found this adorable cafe on the corner in the Marais in Paris. I was caught in the rain and had to stop to photograph it. I loved the writing of the specials on the windows behind the tables. It looks like the perfect table for two! I was lucky enough to visit this cafe later in the evening which made for great people watching. Its a few blocks from the Seine so there were lots of people of all types walking by. I recommend it if you are in the area.
