Parisian Apartment – Haven in Paris

0

My first apartment in Paris was Montmartre. Located in the 18th arrondissement it wasn’t the center of the city but Montmartre has a vibe of its own and its so boho chic. Its a little neighborhood different from the rest of the city. This will always be special to me as its where I spent so much of my time when I first moved to Paris. The area has changed over the years and there are finally a few places to get a good cup of coffee which makes it even better 😉 If you follow along on my instagram you know I like coffee..

I have stayed in 8 different apartments in Paris all over the city. I love seeing the inside of places and the views… Balconies are my favorite and when I saw that there were three balconies in the Haven in Paris apartment I stayed in a few weeks ago I was thrilled! The Montmartre Hideaway was just a few blocks away from my old apartment so I was already familiar with where to get my baguette, grocery shop and coffee. The apartment was five flights up with no lift so I worked off my croissant before even arriving to the boulangerie.

It rained just a few minutes after my arrival to the apartment and it was really beautiful to watch the rain fall from the windows. The rooftop view in Montmartre is unlike anything else in the city. The perks of staying in an apartment in Paris are the washer and dryer, full kitchen with an oven, and a lot more space. I will talk more about choosing one over the other in a follow up post.

I am typically in a hurry for the light in the morning but I did take a day out to enjoy a breakfast on the balcony because I had to enjoy the view. I grabbed these delicious strawberries at the market down the street. I swear strawberries taste better in France than anywhere else…

This view from the bedroom was incredible and so wonderful to wake up to in the morning. There were curtains to block out the light but I made sure to sleep with the windows open to catch the morning light and the fresh breeze.

Light chasing in Montmartre

21

Having a home was something I fought for a very long, three years to be exact. I loved the freedom to be able to pick up and leave at a moments notice. But part of the nomadic life was that I was always thinking where I was going next and for how long. Now that I have my own space its been so refreshing to be able to focus on my work. The ideas have been flooding in like you can’t believe. I have been a project junkie for most of the summer. I have a few new partnerships coming along as well as a whole new project I can’t wait to share. It will take a while to put all together but its been fun bringing one of my best friends on for this project.

As the weekend begins here is a little light chasing in Montmartre. The whole light chasing series will be available for purchase soon. Stay tuned for more details…

Overnight Fall

8

We had the most beautiful warm October here in Paris. I have heard rumors it was the warmest on record for a long while. It was an extended Indian Summer. Just last week I took photos on the Seine and it was dress weather! Overnight the weather turned chilly this week as the calendar changed to November. It tends to do that. I explored a new little area of Montmartre yesterday before the rain and cold came in. I just adore this little street.

The Calm

4

I will be the first to admit my first Paris apartment had me spoiled with two balconies and a view of Sacre Couer and Parisian rooftops. This little balcony over looking the rooftops was perfect to squeeze out onto for a Parisian breakfast or morning cup of tea. I looked out the window on rainy afternoons watching the rain fall. On warm afternoons I would pop a plant or flower vase on the outside and leave the windows open just life this photograph. There was never enough time to enjoy this beautiful view. Thankfully I snapped a few pictures of it over the months. It reminds me of all those perfect moments.

Paris Flea Market Finds

7

One of my favorite activities in Paris is walking the puces or flea markets. I prefer the Clignancourt market which is just at the end of line 4 close to Montmartre. I found this very helpful Girls Guide to Paris post which helped me navigate the streets a little better. Two places for food that I enjoy. The first is right when you exit the metro there is a boulangerie. There is a small chance I like this boulangerie for the fact that I had a pain au chocolat right out of the oven. I don’t know the name but there always seems to be a line which is a good indication that its a good place to stop. The other is Paul Bert which is found on Paul Bert street. I love to pop by and have a coffee up at the bar either at the beginning of my walk or midway through. Here are a few pictures from Paul Bert before starting the to look for my Flea Market Finds.

Tuesday Paris Walk 2/25

4

Today I met up with my friend Olivier in the pouring rain for a walk around Paris. It was so fun popping behind courtyards and hidden doorways for todays shoot. We walked a good amount of the city and in between we tasted chocolate and coffees. My feet are exhausted and so are my eyes but I wanted to share a few images from today.

Happy Weekend in Paris

6

I am really enjoying meeting up with friends and exploring new streets in Paris. I was in my old neighborhood in Montmartre today and fell in love with these stairs. I am still fighting jet lag so I am off to catch up on sleep and hopefully get on track. I promise to post more from today a little later in the weekend. xo
