A rainy day in Paris… there is no place I would rather be…

It turned out to be a very rainy morning. Surprise… the weather was accurate for once! I headed over to meet a friend on Ile St Louis to introduce her to the Bastille Market. That will have to wait for another post. The whole weekend was filled with many adventures and a lot of fun with friends! Here are a few photographs from early morning on the Seine in Autumn.
After a month of beautiful California weather with no rain, I am back in Chicago where it is pouring and on the cold side. My first show is tomorrow so setup was pushed until tomorrow morning. Hopefully the rain stops by tomorrow morning so we can have nice weather. I love photographing in the rain but today there is too much work to be done before tomorrow. Here are a few of my photographs from rainy days in London, New York, and Paris. Where is your favorite place to be when it rains?
The Red Umbrella or in French Le Parapluie Rouge. One of my favorite images from my most recent trip to Paris was an early morning in the Marais. It was raining and the cobblestone streets were wet and shiny from the rain and when I looked up the streets were empty except for a couple walking in front of me with an umbrella. The umbrella was rainbow and really popped in the photograph because everything else was very soft. One of my favorite customers asked if the umbrella could be red. With a little help from a friend, the umbrella turned red! Voila!!
I walked the streets of Berlin early in the morning and at the same time started the rain that would last my entire weekend trip. I was able to pull out my camera for this shot of a reflection of an old building in the frame of an old doorway across the street. This signifies so much as there is much reflection to do in Berlin because of the deep history the city holds. But in the end there is beauty right in front of you. A really wonderful trip to Berlin, and personal reflection.
The best time to photograph is early in the morning, when the streets are clear and the light is just right. My body is off from the time change so I was up way earlier than I was expecting. So this gave me no excuse to get up and go photograph. It was raining when I left the hotel this morning and just eventually started pouring before I could make it to my destination. I can’t think of a better time to photograph but early morning in the rain…
