Paris Bound…starting this Monday

4

I didn’t plan it but I always hoped to be back in Paris this year. After leaving in June I knew I would settle down with a home base. Something I have struggled with for a long time. I am slowly adjusting to life in Chicago getting a little more settled everyday. But then I got an email with an invitation to Paris. Who would say no?

Paris in the Autumn Last year I left at the beginning of November ready to start my busy holiday season. I am squeezing in one last trip. 8 days which is the shortest Paris trip I have taken since 2012. This trip I am staying with family and I am so excited to see them. I am looking forward to catching up with old friends and exploring the city with a new set of eyes. It always helps going away for awhile. As much as I hate it… its good creatively to have a new approach. I have been working on a project for a few months now so there will be lots of research and photos to go along with it. You can follow along with me in Paris through instagram here @rebeccaplotnick

Light chasing in Montmartre

21

Having a home was something I fought for a very long, three years to be exact. I loved the freedom to be able to pick up and leave at a moments notice. But part of the nomadic life was that I was always thinking where I was going next and for how long. Now that I have my own space its been so refreshing to be able to focus on my work. The ideas have been flooding in like you can’t believe. I have been a project junkie for most of the summer. I have a few new partnerships coming along as well as a whole new project I can’t wait to share. It will take a while to put all together but its been fun bringing one of my best friends on for this project.

As the weekend begins here is a little light chasing in Montmartre. The whole light chasing series will be available for purchase soon. Stay tuned for more details…

2016 Planner and Calendar are now available

9

It still gets me every time when I walk into a retailer and find my work on the shelves. I get goosebumps and tears. When I lost my job in 2008 I sat in a park bench in Chicago and made goals. One of them was to be on a Papyrus card. I strategized on how to make it happen. A few years later I got an email from Papyrus to do a card. I was thrilled and so proud to have my work for sale in the store. I have had a few other projects come out with them in the last couple of years.

Yesterday I was walking to a meeting and passed by Papyrus in downtown Chicago. I popped in and right in the front of the store was my new calendar. Yes, tears and chills filled my body once again. Last years sold out Planner is back but there are two calendars to go along with it. You can purchase them at Papyrus, Barnes and Noble and of course directly through me on etsy

Counting Down to Paris

7

There are less than two weeks until I leave for Paris and I am wrapping up some projects here in the States and getting ready for my trip. So far I have a few trips planned outside of Paris including a weekend in Amsterdam, a trip to a beautiful B&B in the south west of France, and a week in Italy.

marais

Since my first solo trip to Paris in 2010 I have stayed in various arrondissement. The 7th, 16th, 18th,1st, 5th but I always find myself in the Marais. This year I will be staying close to the pompidou just 10 minutes walk to my favorite cafe in the marais and 10 minutes the other direction to rue montorgueil. You may be wondering why I always stay in a different area. The truth is I absolutely love my morning walks. Walking the streets in the early morning with the sun kissing the buildings and streets before everyone is awake is really beautiful. I love exploring hidden streets and courtyards and the more I see of Paris the more surprises I discover. I hope you will join me as I travel to Paris starting April 20th.
