Friday Giveaway – What are you grateful for?

16

Its crazy to think that it was a year ago that I packed up my Chicago apartment put everything into storage for a chance to spend four months in Paris. It took a lot of planning, wishing and the help of so many amazing people. It felt as I had a complicated puzzle and all the pieces fit together. I am so grateful for all the people that supported me along the way!

I have an exact plan for 2014 but I do know that my life will bring me back to Paris very soon. I have a few projects that I am working on and an idea that I hope will turn into something grand. More about that another day.

So this Friday’s giveaway is to tell me what you are most grateful for this year. Big or small and you will have the chance to win a $50 gift certificate to my etsy shop. Just go to my FB page or you can enter here in the comments.

Paris by Foot

10

My favorite way to see Paris is by foot. The metro is easy to get around Paris if you want to go from one side to the next in a short amount of time but you miss so much. Today I woke up before most people in Paris and hiked to the top of Sacre Couer.

This is looking down but its about 268 stairs each way = 536 steps. Which is about one pain au chocolat…

I watched as the city turned on their lights and woke up for their day. This is one of my favorite ways to see the city.

I decided to skip the metro today and see the city by foot. I get lots a lot. I don’t have the best sense of direction. Today I kept the map in my pocket and walked left right straight which ever way I felt until I reached the Seine.

I passed some beautiful doorways on my walk. These caught my eye.

I ended up at one of my favorite places all the way in St. Germain across the Seine. Today was actually the opposite of what I was hoping for. I came to Paris to learn to “sit” and not be on the move as much. Tomorrow is another day.

Lisbon in the summer

A lot of people ask me where my favorite place to travel. They are shocked when I tell them Portugal. Up until now this has been my favorite. Its filled with color and history. There is so much detail in the buildings and the streets. Its filled with beauty.

The streets are filled with tiny mosaics. Any interesting prospective from up above.

Take the tram around the city for an interesting and fun view of this city filled with hills.

Paris rooftops in the Winter

I love all the unique rooftops in Paris. The architecture, the detailed windows, and I love the chimneys. I can only imagine how beautiful they look on the inside.

Join me for the next 30 days as I travel and photograph the San Francisco/Bay Area! If you have any recommendations on places to explore or eat I would love to hear them.

Paris in love

I can’t think of a more Romantic city than Paris, France. If I could spend Valentine’s Day in Paris here are a few ideas!

Stop by many of the street vendors in Paris throughout the week or weekend and you will find flowers of all types you can buy them individually or by the dozen.

A an early morning walk by the Louvre is one of my favorite places. Pack a picnic and a blanket and park yourself on the grass. Its a great people watching place.

The Romantic streets of Montmartre. A great place for an afternoon stroll

“Love Park” found in Montmartre this huge mural says I love you in over 300 different languages.

Paris in the rain. A magical romance!

Stop in a cafe for dinner and people watching. This one has fantastic seafood

Finish the romantic day with a climb up to the top of the eiffel tower. The sunset from the top is breathtaking! You can even share a toast to the one you love with a glass of bubbly at the top.

Montmartre Romantic Winter Mornings

2

I fell in love with Paris all over again after seeing it in the Winter. It truly is beautiful seeing the architecture amongst the bare trees. I decided to hike to the top of Montmartre early Sunday morning. It was a very cold foggy morning. I found an amazing bakery that I will save for another blog post. The light hitting the buildings early in the morning along with the smoke from the chimneys made it for a picturesque romantic morning.

Painting the sky with color

Lausanne is filled with beautiful colored buildings, each one a different color. If you climb high up the hills in the center of town you can have a view with a sky filled with color.
