Spring… to be continued

21

Two years ago I spent the most magical three months in Paris which has sparked a desire to return many times over. I experienced bitter cold days, snow, and the transition to Spring. As an American in Paris I could only spend 90 days in Paris without a Visa. Spring came later than usual because of the cold temperatures so just as I was leaving Spring was sprouting everywhere. You could feel the first days of Spring in the air. Terraces were filled with patrons and blossoms were popping up everywhere. My heart was breaking as I walked onto the plane, tears running down my face as I had lost a great love. I had in a way… Paris. I pushed back my Spring trip this year for many reasons.

One being I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my family. My sister and 20 month old niece will be in this week and will be sending me off on Sunday. I am so excited to see them and honestly I love them more than french baguettes, butter, and cheese combined. From pictures that have been posted in Paris the weather is warm and the blossoms have been popping. Its pretty much exactly where I left off two years ago and I guess I couldn’t have planned it any better. I am incredibly lucky to get the best of both worlds between being with family and experiencing Spring in Paris. As an added bonus my Aunt and Uncle will be joining me in Paris/Amsterdam later this month.

Happy Birthday Madame Eiffel

2

When I arrive in Paris each time I make a point to make a nod to Madame Eiffel. Its like a tip of the hat to say hello nice to see you again. I have also gotten in the habit of calling her Madame Eiffel. Over the years I have shared many memories under the eiffel tower. I have seen her covered in fog, watched the sunrise behind her, blossoms blooming all around her, the most stunning sunsets with her as the focus, and yes I have even had romantic picnics under the eiffel tower. This is probably one of my favorite memories 😉

The eiffel tower has been part of some of my favorite Paris photos because what’s more Paris than Madame Eiffel? We will be reunited once again in just a few short weeks. I have a few things planned with Madame Eiffel and since our birthdays are less than two weeks, a celebration is in order.

My short term solution…Paris.

5

Thank you all for your kind words and support from my last post.So perhaps it wasn’t fair after my last blog post when I was writing it I already knew my answer. Or should I say my short term solution. I have been taking yoga for the last couple of years but most recently I have been going more on a regular basis. I have amazing teachers and the wonderful thing about it is that is not just about going to stretch there are great lessons to be learned. If you have ever tried it or if you are a yogi you know what I am talking about. One of my favorite things they repeat is stay present. Forget about the past and don’t think about the future. That is the endless list you need to tackle after the hour is over or perhaps where you should move next. The lesson is to stay present. Exactly where you are in that moment. Breathe and work through it.

If I stay in the present as I am taught my immediate future brings me back to Paris. April 20th to be exact. A week after my 33rd birthday. This means 6 full weeks to stay present and live in the moment. I have a short term action plan for after my 6 weeks is up. But I will fill you in on that at a later date.

I booked an apartment close to the pompidou which as I figured out is 10 minutes in one direction to my favorite street in the Marais vielle de temple and 10 minutes the other way to rue montorgueil. A lucky find as I have always wanted to stay in this arrondissement. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and having the possibility to meeting new friends. I have a few project ideas in mind and the creative juices are finally flowing after feeling blocked for such a long time. I can’t wait to experience Paris in the Spring and transition to Summer.

Etsy Pop up at West – Elm

The last few weeks have been crazier than imagined. Between NYC a few summer shows in the Chicago area and an event at Kiehls for life ride. I hope to update you on all those things in the next few weeks. One more event that I am participating in is an Etsy Pop up at West Elm in Lincoln Park next weekend. More details can be found here.

Cherry Blossoms in DC

12

I spent the past weekend in DC catching up with old friends and enjoying the Spring weather and Cherry Blossoms. Everyone should have a friend or two that makes you laugh so hard you start crying. A big thank you to my friend Elizabeth for hosting me for the weekend and showing me around the DC area. She was a great sport for helping me bloom spot and kept me laughing nonstop.

We found a row of Cherry Blossoms near Haines Point that was beautiful. We sat under the trees and enjoyed the sea of pink on a warm Spring day.
