A little update on what I have been up to

When I first moved back to Chicago and finally had my own place the ideas kept coming to me like crazy. I finally felt creative for the first time in a while. I still wanted to travel but decided to take things to a different level. I have been active on Instagram for a while now and wanted to create content for hotel groups. If I wasn’t renting an apartment for months at a time I had stay in hotels. So why not trade hotel stays for photographs? I had a few ideas of hotels I wanted to work with which I will get to in a different post because I dreamt it and then I actually made it happen. Its been a bit crazy!

In January I traveled to Paris for 6 nights and stayed with a group of hotels. Two nights in each property. So many people ask for hotel suggestions in Paris and I am working on putting together a list but here is the first one called Plaza Tour Eiffel The location is just around from the trocadero and you can catch the sunset or sunrise from this beautiful spot. I recommend sunrise since you won’t be bombarded with as many people. The room had a view of the eiffel tower and little balcony.

I was welcomed with a box of the most beautiful and delicious macarons from Carette. They went quickly but you can’t blame me can you?!

The most stunning rooftop views from the little terrace. The hotel is perfect situated by the metro and there is trocadero square to grab a coffee or lunch at one of the many cafes.

Happy Birthday Madame Eiffel

Today 125 years ago the eiffel tower was completed in Paris, France. I don’t feel like a trip to Paris is real until I see her. The eiffel tower sparkles every hour on the hour after dark. You can see the eiffel tower best at night from the Trocadero which is just across the street from the eiffel tower. There is a metro stop right there so you really can’t miss it!

Cher Paris

Cher Paris…

Today was market day in Paris. There are several markets on Wednesday and Saturdays depending on where you live. There is a market right under my metro station so I decided to venture out. I am glad I researched it before hand to discover I should leave my camera at home. I live on a multi-cultural intersection. The market with filled with Parisians, Africans, and more. As you walk through the market you are pushed from one end to the other. Merchants are yelling at you trying to get you to look their way and lure you over to their fruits or vegetables. It was a very cheap market and a great experience but I don’t think I will be running back!

I attempted to make it to another market I know in Paris under the Grenelle train station. I arrived after noon which made for slim pickings. This is one place in Paris people arrive early to.

I love walking this area. I stayed around the market area last year so I decided to walk to the Trocadero area. If you do stop by this market any of the restaurants or bars in this area are great and not over run by tourists. I had a nice coffee break here.

Today was the first day I have seen blue skies and sun while being in Paris. It makes me hopeful for warmer days ahead!

Can’t wait to see Paris covered in Cherry Blossoms. I am currently scouting all of my favorite streets for Springtime.
