Glowing City at Dusk

0

After returning from an adventure on the island of Burano I was greeted by the sun setting amongst the city of Venice creating a golden glow with the shadows of the Venetian architecture.

A ride along the Grand Canal

The best way to see Venice is to take a vaporetto along the Grand Canal. You can get a day pass or a weekend pass depending how long you will be visiting. I recommend sitting in the back (even if its cold) and watching the canal fly by as you go from stop to stop. If you have time I would ride on one side and then next time sit on the opposite side. There is just too much to see to take it all in on one ride.

Carnival in Venice

Carnival in Venice is on my travel bucket list. I came close this January as the beautiful city was preparing for the festivities of Carnival. The streets are lined with vendors selling masks of all types. Here are a few of my favorite!

Floating along the canal

The colors in Venice are absolutely stunning! If you look at the city from close up like yesterdays post or far away like this photograph, there is no doubt it is one of the most amazing cities!!

Pretty in Pink

Walk the streets of Burano, Italy just off of Venice and you will be amazed at all of the beautiful color. Each house is a different color and uniquely different. The residents of Burano really put thought and care into their front doorsteps. I came across this house that had pink paint chipping away against the building. It reminds me that the beauty is in the detail. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the small things in life.

Danieli Hotel Chandelier

Located just a short walk from the bridge of Sighs and San Marco Square is the famous Danieli hotel. Inside you will find a beautiful two story lobby with detailed stained glass windows. Against the windows you will find colorful murano glass chandeliers. These caught my eye right away!

Venice Blues

The island of Burano located about an hour boat ride from Venice is known for their colored houses and lace. The houses were painted different colors so when the sailors came home after a few drinks they could find their house. I was especially drawn to the beautiful blue doorways on this island. Here are a few!
